This is a blog created by grade 9 students in real-time, live at the SVRSS, in Swan River, Manitoba, Canada. They'll post their thoughts, their ideas, and other great stuff here after reflecting with their teacher, Ryan Maksymchuk. Welcome!

The Animal
Mitosis is when cells devide and it is split into these steps: Interphase, Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase, and Telophase.
Meiosis is when sex cells divide so the right amount of single chromosomes are left after Meiosis.
Mitosis makes new cells that are just the same as the parent cells and meiosis makes new egg and sperm cells,(half).
Mitosis/ Meiosis
This is a diagram of Meiosis in an Iotis.
This is the diagram of Mitosis happening in an Iotis.
These diagrams were made by Braden and Shannon on SMART notebook.

Prophase
http://www.edupic.net/cells.htm
You can see that it is in prophase because the chromosomes are shortening and thickening.
This is a picture of second half of middle prophase. We can tell this is a picture of prophase because it shows centrosomes moving to their opposite sides.

I know this picture is metaphase because you can see the chromosomes splitting apart.
anaphase, you can see that its in anaphase because you can see the cells splitting

Telophase Cell
Below is a picture of a cell in the middle of the last stage... telophase. I know this is a picture of telophase because the cell is in the middle of cytokinisis.

Anaphase is when the chromosome pairs split and there is a roughly even distribution of the non-genetic cellular material.
Anaphase is when the chromosome pairs split and there is a roughly even distribution of the non-genetic cellular material.
This picture shows the metaphase step because in the metaphase step it shows the chromosones all lined up. I got this from creativecommons.com
Prophase
I know this picture is right becuase it shows how the membrane is dissolving.

I know this picture is telophase because is shows the cells splitting up.
